چکیده

We report details of an amperometric method for measurement of hydrogen (H2) in the aqueous phase and its application to hydrogen evolution by an alga. Although amperometric measurement of hydrogen is not common, we wondered whether the conventional Clark electrode for measurement of oxygen could be applied to measurement of hydrogen simply by proper choice of voltage. Initial tests were encouraging. Further effort was necessary to obtain stable response. The resulting procedure has merits of high sensitivity at

AMPEROMETRIC MICROBIOSENSOR FOR THE DETERMINATION OF CHOLINE

The construction and performance of an amperometric microbiosensor for the determination of choline chloride by immobilizing choline oxidase on a cellulose acetate membrane are described. The procedure of choline determination involved the electrochemical detection of enzymatically generated hydrogen peroxide. This microsensor has a linear response between 0.038-0.1 mM choline chloride. The...

Hydrogen Production by a Chlamydomonas reinhardtii Strain with Inducible Expression of Photosystem II

Chlamydomonas reinhardtii cy6Nac2.49 is a genetically modified algal strain that activates photosynthesis in a cyclical manner, so that photosynthesis is not active constitutively in the presence of oxygen, but is turned on only in response to a metabolic trigger (anaerobiosis). Here, we further investigated hydrogen production by this strain comparing it with the parental wild-type strain unde...

In situ activation of a Ni catalyst with Mo ion for hydrogen evolution reaction in alkaline solution

In this study Ni catalyst have been activated during hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) by adding Mo ions into the alkaline electrolyte. After dissolving different amounts of ammonium molybdate in the 1M NaOH as electrolyte, Ni catalyst was used as cathode for HER. Afterwards a comparison between hydrogen overpotential measured in Ni catalyst with and without in situ activation has been made; th...

Nanoporous Gold Surface: An Efficient Platform for Hydrogen Evolution Reaction at Very Low Overpotential

A nanostructured porous gold film (NPGF) was fabricated onto a gold electrode surface by an electrochemical approach involving anodization followed by electrochemical reduction in absence of binary alloys, templates and chemical reducing agents. The electrocatalytic activity of the as-fabricated electrocatalyst was examined towards hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) and very low onset potential ...

Evaluation of different disinfectants on the performance of an on-meter dosed amperometric glucose-oxidase-based glucose meter.

BACKGROUND Off-meter dosed photometric glucose-oxidase-based glucose meters have been reported to be susceptible to interference by hydrogen-peroxide-based disinfecting agents. The objective of this study was to determine if a single application of hydrogen-peroxide-containing Accel® wipe to disinfect an on-meter dosed amperometric glucose-oxidase-based glucose meter will influence its performa...
